CODE OF CONDUCT

Percetakan Jiwabaru Sdn Bhd encourages the human rights and treats all employees with respect as understood by the international community. Recognized standards such as the ISO 9001, ISO14001, ETI Base Code and additional SMETA Requirements are to be used as references in assessing the commitment for employees’ welfare, health and safety working environment.

1) Employment

Forced, bonded or indentured labor or involuntary prison labor is strictly prohibited to use in the company. Workers are voluntarily employed and are free to leave the factory site once their shift ends. The company does not hold any forms of identity cards or unreasonable deposits from the employees.

2) Child Labor

Child labor is not to be used in any stage of manufacturing. Based on the local law, a “child” is any person who is under the age of 16 (or 14 where the law of the country permits), or under the age for completing compulsory education. In addition, there should be legal work restrictions for a young worker who is defined as below the age of 18.

3) Discrimination

Everyone in the company should be committed to a workforce free of harassment and unlawful discrimination and shall not tolerate unlawful discrimination based on race, caste, age, gender, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, religion, political affiliation, pregnancy, or marital status in hiring and employment practices such as promotions, rewards, retirement, termination, compensation, and access to training. In addition, workers or potential workers are not to be subjected to medical/pregnancy tests for the purposes of unlawfully discriminating against such an individual.

4) Disciplinary practices

There is to be no harsh or inhumane treatment, including but not limited to any sexual harassment, sexual abuse, corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion or verbal abuse of workers; nor is there to be any threatening behavior of any kind such as unacceptable gestures, abusive language, and physical contact that is threatening, abusive, or exploitative.

5) Minimum Wages and compensation

Compensation paid to workers shall comply with all applicable local regulations wage laws, including those relating to minimum wages, normal, overtime work hours and legally mandated benefits. Any disciplinary wage deductions are to conform to local law. Workers are paid in a timely manner and are in accordance to the legal requirements.

6) Working Hours

Good manufacturing practices clearly relate worker tension to reduced productivity, increased turnover and increased injury and illness. If in the absence of a legal standard, a factory worker shall not exceed the maximum workweek hours set by local law, including overtime, except in emergency or unusual situations. Workers are entitled to at least one day off in seven; workers can voluntarily work overtime on a rest day, if the local law allows. Overtime are on voluntary basis, an employee shall not be obliged to perform such work unless he agrees to do so and shall be performed only after authorization by the company and the refusal of any employee to accept such overtime work shall not be a ground for discrimination, dismissal or discharge or any other penalty upon the employee.

7) Communication

Effective, direct and open communication between workers and management are important to our business efficiency and profitability. Percetakan Jiwabaru respects the rights of workers to associate freely, participate voluntarily and seek representation in accordance with local laws. Workers shall be able to approach and communicate openly with the employee representative(s) and/ or management regarding working conditions or related issues without fear of retribution, intimidation or harassment.
